CANVEY pushed their unbeaten run to ten games but did it in a different fashion than they would have liked.

In an open but sloppy game, Jay Curran's 54th minute strike was cancelled out by Nigel Neita nine minutes from time at Park Lane.

Curran who now has 17 goals this season put the hosts ahead after finishing off a lovely passing move between Ashley Dumas and Harrison Chatting which gave the Canvey man an open goal to aim at.

Met never gave in though throughout the match and were rewarded in the 81st minute when they cleared a corner and on the halfway line Neita turned Dumas and ran in on goal before curling a shot past Jimmy Guzman.

The visitors started the game well looking confident on the ball but were unable to create any real chances.

After weathering a mini storm, Canvey started getting back on top nearly taking the lead in the 24th minute when Sheldon Sellears attempted to lob Stuart Searle, but the away goalkeeper managed to claw the ball away from goal.

Former Gulls player Tyrone Smith went closest for Met when he sent a free kick on the edge of the penalty area just wide of goal in the 41st minute.

Both teams were guilty of giving the ball away throughout the second half.

Other than the goals, Met captain Steve Sutherland had the best chance in the 71st minute when he slide in to knock the ball past Jimmy Guzman after a free kick was pumped into the box, but Rob Bartley was able to clear the ball before it rolled over the line.
