DAN Trenkel is set to make his 402nd appearance for Great Wakering Rovers in their crunch clash against Basildon United tomorrow.

Trenkel's 401 appearances to date span 13 years (and three departures) since he made his debut in the 2001/2002 season as a 17-year-old.

Here are his 10 of the best while at Rovers.

1) BEST GOAL IN A WAKERING SHIRT?
It has to be a volley against Aveley at the start of the 2002/03 season – a corner was half cleared and I hit it on the volley first time from just outside the box into the roof of the net. I’ve never hit one like that again in my life!

2) MOST MEMORABLE GAME AS A PLAYER?
The last day of the 2004/05 season at Chatham.  We needed a win and we needed Erith to lose by two goals for us to stay up. Both happened. I can still remember the game so clearly and it will live with me forever.

3) MOST MEMORABLE GAME AS A MANAGER?
I don’t think I can pick one to be honest. There’s been ups and downs but I do know that whatever happens, Saturday’s game with Basildon will the most memorable.

4) BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT?
I’ve had some great moments with my other teams, but in a Rovers shirt I would have to say that managing to break into the first team at a time when the club had some amazing players ranks very highly. I’ve also been massively proud of everything the team has achieved this season.

5) WORST MOMENT?
Being relegated away at Soham in 2012. We’d put everything in to that game and we conceded a 93rd minute penalty which sent us down.

Echo:

John Heffer: Wakering legend

6) BEST PLAYER YOU PLAYED WITH?
Again it’s hard to pinpoint one person. John Heffer, Danny Scopes, Neville Hickton and Steve Heffer would be my picks. All legends in my eyes.

Echo:

DJ Campbell: Always scored against Wakering when playing for Yeading

7) BEST PLAYER YOU PLAYED AGAINST?

The four that stand out were Jermaine Beckford when he was a young lad at Wealdstone. He came on against us and destroyed us and he was about 18 at the time. DJ Campbell was another player when at Yeading who always scored against us, and Craig Mackail-Smith scored an outstanding hat trick against us once for Arlesey Town. I played two or three times against Jeff Minton in friendlies and he was just the most amazingly clever and technically gifted player.

8) BEST MANAGER (YOURSELF NOT INCLUDED!)?
I have to thank Eddie Nash for giving me my debut and him and Alan Hull were brilliant people and brilliant managers.

Echo:

Nikki Beale: Sat tight

9) FUNNIEST MOMENT?
I don’t think I’ll ever forget the time Nikki Beale and our then assistant manager Steve Sinnett were having a row after our match with Waltham Abbey back in 2008.  It ended with Steve stopping the car on the hard shoulder of the A127 and telling Nikki to get out. Poor Bealey didn’t know what to do and sat tight with his seatbelt on. He will never hear the end of it.

Echo:

Best mate: Louis Godwin-Green

10) BEST MATE YOU'VE MADE AT WAKERING?
I’ve made some great friends through football, lifelong friendships with a lot of people. Louis Godwin-Green was a friend from school and it is great that we got to play together for Wakering. He was best man at my wedding and we’ve got some great memories from playing many matches together.
