FORMER Southend High School for Boys pupil Morgan Fox has extended his contract with Championship side Charlton Athletic.

Fox, 20, has committed his future to the club by signing on for the next three years, keeping him at the Addicks until 2017.

And Fox – from South Woodham Ferrers – is hopeful he can continue to impress and get more opportunities in the first team, having started Charlton’s last three games, against Bolton, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn.

Fox said he was “very happy” to be offered a new deal.

“The season has got better and better for me.

“It was a little bit of a slow start because I was hoping to be pushing for the first team, but going on loan (to League One side Notts County) did me the world of good.

“Now I have progressed into the first team I’m very happy with that and to get a new deal.

“If we can get at least one more win, hopefully against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, that would top the season for me.”

The player, who made his debut for the club in the FA Cup Fifth Round in February, appeared in every league game of the development squad’s title winning season last year.

He also played every minute as the Addicks won the Kent Senior Cup. The left-back will be hopeful of starting the south London club’s last two matches, beginning against Watford tonight.
