BARRY Corr fired Southend United to victory against Burton Albion on Saturday and is now aiming for more of the same in the League Two play-offs.

Corr's first half header secured the Shrimpers a 1-0 win at Roots Hall and a fifth place finish.

And the in-form forward, who has now scored five goals in six games, is confident Blues can beat the Brewers again in the two legged semi-final.

“I think winning this game could give us a bit of an edge over Burton and we're confident about our chances because we're playing well at the moment,” said Corr.

“I'm sure Burton will disagree and point to how many changes they made here but I think it was important to win the game to go in to the play-offs in the best shape possible.

“Winning also means we're at home in the second leg which is what everyone seems to think is best so we've given ourselves the best chance possible and now just need to make sure we perform.”

Blues will travel to Burton for the first leg of the play-off semi-final on Sunday, kick off 12 noon before hosting the Brewers at Roots Hall the following Saturday, in a game which also starts at 12 noon.

The winners will take on either Fleetwood Town or York City at Wembley on Monday May 26.

But Corr is urging his team-mates to not get carried away.

“We've got in to the play-offs but that means nothing if we don't go up and we haven't actually achieved anything yet,” said the 29-year-old.

“It will be the first time I've ever played in the play-offs so I'm looking forward to the games.

“I'm glad we have the extra games too because I'm starting to score a few goals again now and hopefully I can keep doing that in the play-offs to help get us up.”
