I THINK there has been an extra buzz around the training ground this week as we look forward to the play-off semi-final against Burton.

As it turned out we would’ve had enough points to have made the top seven even if we had lost every game after winning 3-0 at Rochdale but it’s good we’ve been able to keep the good form going.

The boys are all flying and I think it’s important to single out those who haven’t been in the starting line-up just recently because their attitude and approach has been spot on.

The likes of Freddy Eastwood, Lee Barnard, Marc Laird, Conor Clifford, Bedsente Gomis and even young Jack Payne would all have wanted to be playing more of a part in our last few games.

But they’ve all kept their standards high and have been displaying the right kind of attitude in training.

That puts pressure on those in the first team to keep on performing and I honestly don’t think we would be doing so well if it wasn’t for those lads who are trying to get back in to the side.

It’s good to have that competition going in to the play-offs and it’s good to the amount of experience we have as well.

I’ve been in the play-offs as a player, a coach, an assistant manager and a manager so I know exactly what to expect.

It’s the same with Dave Penney and Graham Coughlan as well and I think the most important thing is that we all keep calm.

If we do that then the players will as well and I know we will play much better if they’re like that too.

>I READ what Gary Rowett had to say after our win against Burton at the weekend but I won’t be making any kind of reply to it.

I’m not going to engage in any mind games or anything like that and it’s just about making sure we do the business on the pitch now.

We started the season with three wins and three clean sheets and now we want to end it that way too.

That’s the challenge facing us now and if we can do that then we will be promoted and the club will be back in League One next season which is what we’ve always set out to achieve.

The fans also have an important part to play and it’s great to hear that seating tickets have now been sold for the game.

Hopefully the ones in the terrace can also now be snapped up, especially as the club has subsidised the travel.

>IT was great to be able to get Bedsente Gomis a run out against Burton Albion last Saturday.

In his previous appearance, a 15 minute spell in our defeat to Exeter, Gomis didn’t really show what he’s capable of.

We all knew he was better than that though and I thought he showed that at the weekend.

He had a point to prove to our fans and I thought he did well when he came on.

He’s someone who won’t break the bank to keep next season and could be one we consider keeping.

At the same time we are looking to improve our squad, whatever league we’re in.

But the good thing is I do think a lot of the players we already have here will be capable of playing in League One.
