SOUTHEND United are targeting a crowd of 10,000 for tomorrow’s play-off clash against Burton Albion at Roots Hall.

Close to 8,500 tickets have already been sold for the second leg of the semi-final.

And Blues’ chief executive Steve Kavanagh is hoping even more fans will flock to the ground for the crucial game.

“We’ve done everything we can to try and make sure we have over 10,000 home supporters at Roots Hall and we’d like to thank Burton for working with us here as well,” said Kavanagh.

“It would be fantastic to see a full house for what is a huge game for the club. Phil Brown and the players have often commented on how good the support has been this season, but we need one last big push from the fans.

“There have been some memorable games at Roots Hall, and if we were to reach 10,000, it’d be our highest attendance for a play-off home game. “ Kavanagh admitted he had been pleased with the steady sale of tickets throughout the week in the build up to the game.

But he was also keen to stress that plenty of tickets still remain.

“Ticket sales are going well, however there are still plenty of seats available with great views at the heart of the action,” said Kavanagh.

“Fans will be able to sit with their family and friends, with blocks of four or five still available.

“Hopefully we can fill the ground and create a terrific atmosphere to help cheer the players on to victory and Wembley for the final.”

Adult tickets are available in advance of the game for £19 but will rise to £21 on the day of the match.
