ELLIS Brown has a signed a one year deal with Southend United after impressing on trial.
The youngster, who can play up front or on the wing, was released by Charlton Athletic at the end of the season.
And Shrimpers boss Phil Brown is pleased to have snapped him up.
“Ellis has come in after impressing Ricky Duncan, he then trained with the first-team a couple of times and was extremely impressive so we’re pleased to have signed him,” said Brown.
“He stayed with the first-team, trained with us and in training games has given John Egan and Jakub Sokolik real problems.
“His pace is one of his strongest attributes but he also has a real technical side to his game.
“I’m pleased we’ve been able to bring him to the club after he left Charlton. He’s an exciting prospect.”
Brown was presented to the crowd at half-time of Saturday’s game against Burton.
