SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has opened contract talks to extend his spell in charge of the Shrimpers.
Brown’s current deal expires at the end of next season.
But, as was revealed in yesterday’s Echosport, the Blues boss is keen to remain at Roots Hall.
“I sat down with the chairman and chief executive on Tuesday and again on Wednesday to start discussing a new contract and look to extend my stay here at Roots Hall,” said Brown.
“I’ve still got a year on my current deal, so there is no rush to get it sorted but discussions are underway.
“As disappointing as Saturday was, progression has been made this season, and I want to be part of the long-term future of this club.”
