TEN of Concord Rangers’ cup winning squad have signed new deals with the club.

Manager Danny Cowley told the Echo that ten of his 16-man squad have agreed to play for the Beachboys’ next season, with negotiations ongoing with at least four other players.

Steve Cawley, Nicky Cowley, Danny Glozier, Joe Gardner, Paul Goodacre, Reece Harris, Steve King, Jack Lampe, Gary Ogilvie and Tony Stokes have all penned new contracts with the Conference South side.

“I am very pleased that so many of last season’s side have committed themselves to the club,” said Cowley, who led Concord to a top half-finish and Essex Senior Cup success last campaign.

“The loyalty this group has shown to me and the club is excellent and we’re hopeful we can keep at least 14 of the 16. It will give us continuity and, in my experience as a manager here, that is very important.”

The Concord boss says he is confident of tying up a deal for James White although the future of stars Sam Collins – who won the players’ player and supporters’ player of the year – and Lewis Taaffe is not so clear, with both garnering strong interest from professional clubs.

Goalkeeper Jamie Butler, who has been training at Championship club Millwall since Christmas, is also attracting interest from Championship new boys Fulham.

Midfielder Taylor Miles, who spent the back end of last season on loan at Concord from West Ham, is currently on trial at two Football League clubs, although Cowley says should it not work out he could return to the Aspect Arena.

“There has been a lot of interest in clubs for our players and that is to be expected after what we achieved,” said Cowley.

“We take it as a compliment and it shows we are doing a lot of things right.

“I have always said I want what is best for my players and if they get a good enough offer I will drive them there myself.”
