SCORING twice at Swansea City to secure promotion from League One is Freddy Eastwood’s favourite ever moment in a Southend United shirt.

Eastwood scored twice in Blues’ 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium back in 2006.

And that remains the highlight of his Shrimpers career.

“Getting the two goals at Swansea and getting up in to the Championship was the best moment for me,” said Eastwood.

“I seem to remember we had slipped up a couple of times before then and couldn’t quite get over the line.

“But winning the league and getting promotion to the Championship was a huge achievement for us.

“It was a really good game and would be definitely be my favourite for Southend.”

Eastwood also picked out winning the League Two play-offs as another memorable moment.

And he was quick to point out the success of the team mattered more than what he achieved as an individual.

“When you look back at your career you look at what you’ve won so the play-offs were also great,” said Eastwood.

“Beating Manchester United was great as well, but it was a one off cup game and didn’t mean as much as promotion.

“But I was fortunate enough to enjoy a few memorable moments including my debut against Swansea when I got a hat-trick and scoring a hat-trick on my birthday at Bristol City.”
