YOUNG football stars showed off their promise at the divisional finals of the Southend & District Junior League.
Young teams from Wickford, Leigh, Billericay and Great Wakering won finals in different age groups ranging from under-13 to under-16 at the finals day, held at Roots Hall on Saturday.

George Fulcher scored the early goal and dominated possession, but a combination of determined defence and fine goalkeeping kept the Rayleigh Boys Blue at bay.

Ramblers’ Oli Paul was given the man-of-the-match performance, leading the team to the 1-0 victory.
“It’s a big highlight to play here for these boys and everybody associated with clubs,” said league secretary, Tom Clarke. “We have to say a big thank-you again to Southend United. By hosting the finals here each year, they do an enormous service to football in the community.”
