LEVI CAUSTON AND GABRIELLE QUIGLEY BREAK CLUB RECORDS

CHELMSFORD won the Eastern Young Athletes League fixture on their home track helped greatly by south Essex athletes – two of whom broke club records.

Canvey’s Levi Causton went over 60m for the first time in his life to win the under-17 boys hammer competition.

His club-record distance of 60.01m ranks him fourth in the country.

Causton has just moved to Chelmsford from Basildon and another thrower who has made the same swap is also impressing.

Rayleigh’s Gabrielle Quigley  has also broke a club under-15 hammer record and her throw of 39.97m moved her further up the club rankings.

Quigley also recorded a PB in winning the under-17 shot (11.32m), and scored a first place in the discus (33.15m) to complete a hat-trick of wins, and finish as the highest points scorer in the team.  The feat was particularly remarkable as the wins came in the under-17 category with Quigley still an under-15.

Mayflower School’s Connie Forman won the long jump with a leap of 5.28m which propels her into the top 10 in the country while she set a 100m PB of 12.8s.

FitzWimarc School’s Jessica Down threw a new PB to win  the under-15 girls shot (10.23m), while Laura Runciman was second in the hammer (32.48m) and won the B-string shot (8.85m).
Laura’s brother Robert won the  80m hurdles (12.0s) and was second in the 200m (24.1s).
