ALBERTO De las Heras will be in action for Southend United at Billericay Town tonight.

The 26-year-old midfielder impressed while training with the Shrimpers in Malaga last week.

And he has now flown over to try and impress Blues boss Phil Brown who is keen to see the Spaniard in action.

“Alberto is with us again and it will be very interesting indeed to see how he can adapt to playing in the English game,” said Brown.

“He’s technically gifted and will very rarely give the ball away.

“He can play on the wing and is very creative and that’s something we want to add to the team for next season as we look to score more goals. He’s looked good in training but matches are different and he will need to adjust to our game quite quickly if he is going to come and join us.

“But we will be looking at him against Billericay and we also have a match against Tottenham’s under 21 team at their training ground tomorrow that he will be playing in.”

Fellow trialists – defenders Jordan Wilson and Nabil Aslam, plus wingers Craig Fagan and Roman- Michael Percil – are also expected to figure at New Lodge.

Ryan Auger is also in contention but the starting line-up is expected to play for longer than just 45 minutes.

“We’re having a look at it now and those who start the game will be looking to play for around an hour,”

confirmed Brown.

“After that we will look to make changes but we want everyone to have three or four full games under their belts before the season gets under way.”

Striker Barry Corr, midfielder Michael Timlin and goalkeeper Paul Smith are also expected to be involved against Ryman Premier League side Billericay.

Brown is also still looking to add more games to the Shrimpers preseason schedule and is hopeful of soon finalising another fixture for Saturday August 2.
