WINGERS Roman-Michael Percil and Craig Fagan remain on trial with Southend United.

But boss Phil Brown has yet to decide whether or not to offer them a contract.

Percil – who was released by Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season - has shown glimpses of his speed and skill in three appearances for the Shrimpers so far during pre-season.

However, Brown is not sure how he would perform in League Two.

“Roman played for 30 minutes against Spurs and he continues to impress but I’m not sure what kind of impact he would have at our level,” said the Shrimpers chief.

“When you’re looking at budgets and squads I ideally need someone who can come in and play 46 matches for us.

“I’m not sure if Roman can at this stage but he does have a lot of qualities and could be a decent impact player so there could still be room for him.”

Fagan, who previously worked with Brown at Hull City, is also on trial at Roots Hall and is currently in the same boat as Percil.

“Craig is in a similar situation to Roman,” confirmed Brown.

“He’s the fittest I’ve seen him for years and originally came in with us to get in shape.

“He’s played a couple of games now though and we will be looking at him in training again.”

Percil and Fagan both remain at the club but it remains unclear if they will play at Braintree Town on Saturday.

“If they’re still here then they could be involved,” added Brown.
