TOM Bottrill has successfully defended the Fred Laws Memorial Trophy he won at Thorpe Hall Golf Club last year.

Bottrill beat Ray Hooker on countback to keep hold of the trophy, which is awarded to the veteran player with the best gross score.

Adam Moy won Division One of the July Stableford with a nett 40 points off a three handicap. Peter Alabaster was second with 40 points, playing off scratch.

Division Two was won by John Avery (15) with a nett 41, followed by Philip Lagden (14) with 40 points.

The Harris Veterans Cup was won by Ray Hooker, with 42 points off 7.5 handicap.

Dr Bruce Bevan-Jones (27.6) and Ellio Tintori (15.8) both scored 38 points. The Veterans’ July Stableford and the Grandfathers Cup, presented by Roy Keeble, was won by Stephen Reynolds, with 39 points, off a 20.8 handicap.

Colin Emsden (15.7) and Roy Knowles (12.1), both had 36 points.

l ANDREA Clarke was the clear winner of Belfairs Ladies’ Windfall Trophy.

Clarke scored 36 points to finish six points clear of Teresa Hirons, with Susan Meddle third with 29.

Joan Smith (80-7=73) took the Charity Bowl by a stroke from runner-up runner-up Joan Howroyd (102-28=74), with Hazel Webber (101-25=76) finishing third.

The Leigh club were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Chigwell in the Harris Bowl.

lBALLARDS Gore lady member Joan Parkes won through to the semi-final of the IDA Bunting giving opponent Gill Gardiner nine shots and winning 4&3.

Parkes also won the club championship on countback from Pat Rogers.

The Rogers Par 18 was won by Chris Gozzett with net 77. Jacqui Bratt was second with a nett 80, with Norma Higgingson third with a nett 80.
