IT was a case of job done for Jessica Judd as she safely negotiated the opening round of the 800m at Hampden Park.

And the 19-year-old’s attentions immediately turned to her semi-final the moment she stepped off the track.

The Canvey teenager was whisked passed the hordes of media wanting to speak to her as she attempted to warm down and get back to the Athlete’s Village as soon as possible to prepare for Thursday night's semi-final.

Judd goes into the semi-finals as the second fastest of all the qualifiers after finishing runner-up in the fastest heat of the day in 2m 2.16s.

Judd - who was looking to put the disappointment of crashing out of the heats at last year’s World Championships behind her - looked in control of the race, doing all that she needed to finish in the top three finishers who were all guaranteed a semi-final spot.

All of her main Home Nations rivals also qualified apart from Scotland’s Laura Muir who didn’t make the start line of her heat after running the 1,500m final the night before.
