BENFLEET bike racer Mason Law is hoping to build on a problem-free race when he heads to Oulton Park this weekend.

Law overcame the electronics gremlins which blighted his last two rounds to secure sixth place at Thruxton on Sunday.

And he is now aiming to finish the National Superstock 600 season with a flourish after his mid-season electronics problems ended his title ambitions.

“The championship is out of the question as they are a bit too far away now,” said Law.

“So the approach will change and I’m now going to give it my all.

“When you are going for the championship you ride more conservatively but I’ll now be giving it 110 per cent to get as many podiums and wins as I can.”

Law heads to Cheshire eighth in the standings with 47 points and knows it could have been more if the electronics problem had not plagued him.

It first appeared at Knockhill in June and meant he did not get any track time on the Saturday before he crashed during the race the following day at the Scottish circuit.

The Benfleet racer believes the electronics problem caused the crash but rebuilding his Trik Moto Kawasaki took precedence to get the bike ready for Brands Hatch last month.

The team located the problem on a dyno on the Friday before race weekend but unfamiliarity with the full length Brands GP track meant Law qualified 16th.

But he finished 15th to pick up a point and despite not having ridden Thruxton since early last season, Law qualified 11th.

A strong performance saw him finish the 14-lap race 7.843 seconds behind polesitter and winner Kyle Ryde, whose win took him to 120 points at the top of the championship.

“It was a good result and it keeps me there or thereabouts in the standings,” added Law, who did not score any points when he raced at Oulton Park earlier in the season. “It’s good that it’s back-to-back after last weekend. The riding is still fresh and I’m carrying momentum with me.”
