ROCHFORD HUNDRED: Two of Rochford Hundred's youth team stars went head-to-head in a superb battle for the club's August medal honours.

And it was Connor Morris who just edged the Division One win from Josh Hickling after both played some terrific golf.

Morris posted 70-1=69 with back-to-back birdies helping him hit the turn on one under par.

A blip at the 10th briefly threatened his round but a birdied three on the 14th and seven further pars saw him to a one-shot win.

Hickling also carded two birdies on the outward nine but two bogeys left him a shot behind.

Two further bogeys hindered his round but two birdies on the last three holes helped him to 71-1=70 and second place.

Mark Rosser moved up to category one status after shooting 74-6=68 in the intermediate section to lower his handicap to five.

Rosser's round included two birdies and a dozen pars to leave him two shots clear of Henry Gibbons, who continued his good form with 80-10=70.

Bob Wells gained a one-shot handicap cut after winning the third section with 91-13=68.

Wells overcame two triple bogeys with a string of pars before a back nine which featured six pars and a birdie. David Franklin was runner up with 87-18=69.

Tony Hadley took the midweek Scott Spencer stableford honours with 42 points, with the two-handicapper scoring five birdies and 12 pars.

Nine-handicapper Paul Kicks was a point away in second place, while Taylor Cater's 38 points off scratch saw his handicap reduced to +1.

Tricia Collins secured her first ladies' section win at the club with a 39 points stableford success.

Tracy Nelson (37) and Patsy Lowndes (34) were second and third.
