THORPE HALL: Robert Styles held off cadets Christopher Grant and William Turner to win division one of the August Stableford.

Styles finished with an excellent nett 43, off his 10 handicap, holding off the two youngsters, both of whom had 41 points off one handicaps.

Division two was won by Stephen Kershaw with 38 points off 13 handicap, from Christopher Mills, with 38 points off 24 handicap.

The Monday league Stableford and Putt Putt qualifying competition was won by Jeffrey Klein (38 points off 24 handicap), from Steve Fountain (37 points off nine handicap) and John Goyette (36 points off 19,5 handicap).

The cadets have shown strongly this month, starting with their Captain’s Day, which was won by Henry Gibbons (nett 68, off 10 handicap), followed by Turner (nett 69, off one handicap) and Josh Smith (nett 70 off eight handicap).

Division one of the men’s August Medal was won by cadet Christopher Grant (nett 68, off one handicap), followed by Turner (nett 70, off one handicap) and Daniel Capps (also with a nett 70 off one handicap).

Division two was won by Paul Murray (nett 62 off 15 handicap), followed by Paul Blows (nett 64 off 13 handicap). Both golfers have now been cut to 12 handicap and find themselves in division one.
