DIVISION ONE:

HADLEIGH & Thundersley face a crunch clash at table-topping Colchester & East Essex tomorrow.

Hadleigh head in to the game sitting third in the Division One table, 13 points behind the promotion places.

And bowler David Williams is desperate for the team to secure another victory.

“This is possibly the toughest fixture of the season but we need to perform if we are to challenge at the top,” said Williams.

“Now the 50 over games are all done it’s a game in which we will be looking to get as many points from as possible to put the pressure on second place.”

Buckhurst Hill are currently in second and they are in action at Southend & EMT this weekend.

However, Southend have triumphed in four of their last five games and have not given up hope of winning promotion themselves.

They are currently 17 points behind Buckhurst Hill and that makes tomorrow’s match hugely important for both teams.

“It’s a big game for us due to the league position of both clubs,” said Southend skipper Joe Robbins.

“We are in great form at the moment and with the players we have in the form that they’re in, if we play to our best, then I believe we can beat anybody in this league.

“We beat Buckhurst Hill at their place but we know they are a dangerous side and we will have to put in another excellent performance if we want to come away with the win.”

At the other end of the table, Wickford host fifth placed Hutton.

Wickford are currently second from bottom in the table, nine points from safety.

And victory is therefore vital for them and their survival chances this weekend.

“It's another must win game this week but so are all the games we have left now,” said Wickford captain Andy Baker.

“There were lots of positives to take from last week when we narrowly missed out on a win.

“Hopefully we can draw on them and perform well this week.

“We have a few players back so we will be stronger and looking to take full advantage.”
