CANVEY Island return to the Prospects Stadium after a successful trip to Peacehaven & Telscombe at the weekend.

The Gulls are hosting Met Police with only one goal separating the sides in the league after three matches. The Gulls have not played at home since their opening day win against Bognor Regis Town but manager Danny Heale has impressed upon the importance of home form if his side is to maintain a promotion push this year.

Met Police have lost their only away game of the season so far, losing at the much fancied Maidstone United ten days ago.

Canvey only took one point off the Londoners last season, something Heale is looking to change this time around and with skipper Jay Curran already netting three goals this term, he is sure to be a threat again tonight.

Heale confirmed he had a fully fit squad but for Charlie Barlow and Kevin Dobinson, who were unavailable for the match.

Great Wakering Rovers are looking to bounce back from a last-minute defeat to Maldon & Tiptree to take their first points of the season but face a stern test at Soham Town Rangers.

Rangers have already won twice this year and are likely to be one of the sides challenging at the top come the end of the year.

Rovers assistant manager Gary Ansell said his side was lacking fitness “mentally and physically” after the weekend’s defeat and, although he said it wouldn’t come quickly, said they mustn’t lose concentration at the back towards the end of games.
