SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has revealed the Shrimpers turned down an offer from a Premier League club for goalkeeper Daniel Bentley just before the transfer window closed.
Brown was not willing to name the club in question.
But he was delighted the Roots Hall hierarchy decided to keep hold of the young shot-stopper.
“We had what I would call a sizeable offer from a Premier League club for Daniel Bentley on transfer deadline day and we turned it down,” revealed Brown.
“We didn’t feel the deal was right for us or Daniel at this stage and I’m delighted that he’s still with us.”
Brown also revealed that Blues had been in discussions to bring players to the club on a six month loan deal.
But they opted against coming to Southend.
