ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE: Teams kick off their FA Vase campaign this weekend with Bowers & Pitsea and Basildon United both at home.

Rob Small’s Bowers team will play Codicote at the Len Salmon Stadium having won back-to-back cup matches in the run-up to this match.

However, they have a few injury concerns - Lamar Lemonius is out after turning his ankle in the in FA Cup win against Colney Heath and Lewis Manor is also set to miss out.

Should they progress they will host Eastern Counties side Haverhill Rovers in the second qualifying round.

Basildon Untied have had contrasting fortunes in the cup, losing their last two knock-out matches. Colin Cook will be looking for a response from his team against Thurlow Nunn Division One team Haverhill Borough, adding his physio Sheree Ryan was working non-stop to work the injured players back to fitness.

Jordan Williams will miss out with Taylor Sinfield, Craig Gillam, Charlie O’Neill, Ricardo Bailey and Ellis Skidmore all facing late fitness tests.

They will play London Bari at home in the next round should they win.

The winners will take home £600.

In the league, Hullbridge Sports host last year’s Ryman North bottom side Waltham Forest.

Sports have endured an indifferent start to the season, winning two and losing two of their opening four games. They come into the game in confident form, having beaten Ilford 2-0 on Wednesday evening. Harry Skinner and Matt Brinklow netted the goals, with Aaron Hunwicks also impressing at the back, as Sports made it two wins against Ilford in two weeks.

Elsewhere, Southend Manor welcome Enfield 1893 to the Arena Stadium. Manor have won two of their last three matches, enjoying a win at Greenhouse London in their last league outing.

A win could lift Wayne Seal’s team as high as sixth.
