Burnham 0-1 Canvey Island
FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
From The Gore
CANVEY Island are in the hat for the next round after a single goal win at Burnham.
Burnham have struggled of late in the Southern Premier League and it only took 11 minutes for them to fall behind in this clash.
Ishmail Kamara was in the right place at the right time to open the scoring and the away side were able to restrict the hosts to little in the first half, while creating little themselves.
On-loan West Ham United goalkeeper Tim Brown was called into action in the second half, smothering at the feet of the onrushing Jon-Jo Bates.
Sands had another chance before Burnham almost levelled, but Nicke Kabamba found Brown to be in unbeatable form, blocking his shot.
The impressive Rio Bryan-Edwards blocked a goal bound Burnham shot but the same player saw a block deflect narrowly past Tim Brown’s post as the home side pressed.
The hosts had Craig Carby sent off for two yellow cards late on, for a bad tackle on Chatting but Burnham continued to press.
Canvey Island: Brown, Bryan-Edwards, Easterford, Jones, Carter, Eyong (Marlow), Chatting, Thomas, Sands, Kamara, Osobu (Dumas)
