Met Police 3-4 East Thurrock United
FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
From Imber Court
EAST Thurrock United came out on top in a seven goal cracker to continue their impressive form in the FA Cup.
Goals from Sam Higgins, Connor Witherspoon and a brace from Lewis Smith were enough to see Rocks past a spirited Met Police side, who had a rotten start to the match.
Higgins fired the away side into a 9th minute lead, with the home side having started the match sluggishly.
But they hit back just before the 30 minute mark through Michael Charles but full-back Witherspoon broke forward to put the away side back in front.
And that lead was extended before the break, with Lewis Smith evading the attentions of the defenders to hit home his third of the afternoon.
But Met Police hit back minutes after the break, with that man Charles again on the mark.
But Smith scored what was the decisive goal, with Charlie Collins’ strike not enough to claw the hosts back into this clash.
East Thurrock United: Hughes, Witherspoon, Peddie, Wood, Stephen, Goodacre, Bryant (Sammons), Gilbey (Symons), Higgins (Osei), Smith, Harris
