SOUTHEND United goalkeeper Ted Smith played the whole 90 minutes in England under 19 side’s 8-0 win against Luxembourg.
The former King John School pupil was not troubled too often between the sticks.
But Shrimpers boss Phil Brown was delighted for the youngster to earn more international experience.
“It’s fantastic for Ted and also us as a football club for him to be keeping a clean sheet for England,” said Brown.
“We're very proud of what he's achieved but I’m not sure he had too much to do.
"All you can do is keep out what’s in front of you and that’s what he did.
“I think the other goalkeeper had more to do in the previous game against Belarus so he will just have to wait and see who gets the nod for the next game against Belgium on Wednesday.”
However, the two successive wins mean England have already made it through to the final stage of European Championship qualifying next spring.
