RAYLEIGH Girls have played their first ever match, drawing 3-3 against Hullbridge at Rayleigh Town Sports & Social Club.
In the past 18 months, Rayleigh Boys & Girls Football Club have been trying hard to promote girls football in the town, holding regular training sessions at Fairview Park.
Girls aged between six and 12 have been attending the sessions and were keen to put in to practise what they had learnt.
The future is orange – Rayleigh Girls team with their coaches and former Southend United striker Neil Harris before their game on Saturday
Millwall legend and former Southend United striker Neil Harris, who remains heavily involved at Rayleigh, therefore helped to organise the friendly which ended in an entertaining draw.
The Eastwood-based Harris was also in attendance at the game but the older girls are now keen to take their footballing interests further.

Rayleigh are therefore on the look-out for a dedicated coach for the girls team.
