SOUTHEND United skipper John White will be out to avoid any more close shaves at Mansfield Town tomorrow.

White will again be growing a moustache during the next month to make money for the Movember charity which raises funds and awareness for male cancer.

And he hopes it can prove lucky for the Shrimpers.

“Last season we did Movember and we had a good month on the pitch too so hopefully we can this year as well,” said the defender.

“You have to be clean shaven for the start of the month so there won’t be anything tomorrow and I’m bit gutted to be losing the beard because it’s been keeping my face warm.

“But it’s for a great so I don’t really mind.”

White also insisted he was not fussed if was selected at right-back or in the centre of the defence against the Stags.

But he is desperate to get back to winning ways after five matches without a victory.

“There are always going to be ups and downs throughout a season,” said White.

“We knew it was going to happen at some point and I think we’re looking forward to the next game to try and put it right.

We’re not getting battered so it’s certainly not a crisis and there are positives to take from games we haven’t got the points in. “
