JORDAN Chiedozie says it was an “amazing feeling” to see his thunderbolt shot hit the net in Concord Rangers’ FA Cup draw at Mansfield Town.

The 20-year-old unleashed a fierce 30-yard drive with 17 minutes played at Field Mill to equalise for the Beachboys, only 45 seconds after a Danny Glozier own goal had put the League Two side ahead.

Chiedozie, son of former Tottenham Hotspur player John, was a menace all night, with his tireless display earning a rousing reception from the home supporters, while they rose as one to applaud his blockbuster leveler.

And Chiedozie, who came through the youth ranks at Bournemouth, said he was pleased he had his shooting boots on.

“It was nice to score a goal that wasn’t with my head,” laughed the striker.

“My last few have been headers, but this was a real goal and I am pleased it helped the team.

“I wasn’t going to hit it at first but the space opened up in front of me and I thought ‘why not?’ “When you hit a shot like that on a stage like this and it goes in it is an amazing feeling. It was one of my best goals.”

The goal was Chiedozie’s second in two matches since returning from injury, and he said his goal came at the right time, with Concord on the ropes in the First Round tie.

“We needed that goal when it came,” he said. “We conceded a really unfortunate goal and they were building up a head of steam at that point. If you let teams like this get on top it is hard to come back so it was important.

“I have played two 90 minute games now since coming back from injury so I feel a bit tired but I am scoring goals and the team is doing well.

“Now we need to get regroup and go again next week.”

Chiedozie could have won the tie on the night, only to be denied by a superb fingertip save from Stags stopper Sascha Studer.

“Their goalkeeper was excellent. He made some good saves and the one that stopped me scoring was a really good stop but saying that our keeper (Josh Vickers) was fantastic too.”

Chiedozie joined the club at the start of the season and has fast become a fans favourite, hitting seven goals for the club to date.

And he said he wanted to make his mark on the big stage, in front of 2,023 watching fans, and give something back to the 101 Beachboys fans that made the trip.

“This was a good chance to show what I am about,” said the striker. “When I first came here I didn’t know a lot about the club but I am really enjoying my football at the moment.

“I am getting out on the pitch and am enjoying playing. You can see the quality we have in the squad and we are proving that week after week.

“We can’t wait for the replay.”
