SAM Reynolds is eager to continue Westcliff’s fine start to 2015 when they host high-flying Bury St Edmunds in National Three London & SE tomorrow.

Westcliff have won both of their matches since the turn of the year.

And Reynolds is now keen to secure a third triumph in succession, despite expecting Bury to be tricky opponents.

“This Saturday will be tough as Bury are one of the best teams in the league and are currently sitting second,” said Reynolds.

“They have a big pack and were very clinical with the chances they had in the game at their ground back in October.

“But it’s been a great start to 2015 for us and we are looking forward to the challenge of hopefully taking another scalp. “ Westcliff kicked off the new year by beating Hertford 16-9 before following that up with a 34-29 victory at Amersham & Chiltern last weekend.

Reynolds scored two tries in the triumph and was delighted to come out on top.

“It was a huge relief to win,” said the back row.

“It was a must-win game against another team in the relegation battle.

“We still have plenty of improvements to be made but the wins have given us a lot of confidence and strengthened our belief that we can beat anyone in this league.

“Breaking Hertford's seven game winning streak gives us even more conviction that this is the case and hopefully we can keep it going now.

The back to back wins have taken Westcliff out of the relegation zone and up to 10th in the table.

That has delighted Reynolds and so has playing alongside his brother Buster in the starting line-up.

“It's great to play with Buster, although our post-game analysis of each other's performances can be pretty brutal,” laughed Reynolds, who came through the youth system at the club.

“I think our mother enjoys it too because it means she only has to attend one game every weekend!”
