Leatherhead 2-1 East Thurrock United
From Fetcham Grove
Ryman Premier League
EAST Thurrock United’s recent struggles continued as they went down 2-1 at Leatherhead.
Rocks have had a difficult February, winning only one of their last five games following their defeat in Surrey.
John Coventry handed another start to on-loan Southend United starlet Ellis Brown and he looked lively early on against mid-table Leatherhead.
It was the hosts who had a penalty shout early on, as Vas Karagiannis went down under pressure in the box, but the referee waved away their appeals.
Hotshot striker Sam Higgins was well-stifled by the home team before the knock-out blow came on the half-time whistle.
Mark Nwokeji got the goal for the home team, as they pushed forward.
Rocks came out with intent in the second half, but couldn’t force an equaliser, before they went 2-0 down midway through the second half.
Kiernan Hughes-Mason grabbed the goal and that was enough for the hosts, despite Higgins late intervention, his 36th goal of the season.
East Thurrock United: Hughes, Sammons, Stephen, Goodacre, Wood, Witherspoon, Osei, Parmenter, Higgins, Brown, Bryant
