SEEVIC College flanker Joe Hedges had his own special guests in the crowd at Twickenham yesterday.

Hedges father Paul flew back from Singapore just to see the game, while his mum's cousin he had previously never met was also in attendance.

And 17-year-old Hedges was therefore gutted not to got the win as Seevic sunk to a 13-5 defeat against Churcher’s College.

“My dad flew back from Singapore just to watch the game which is brilliant and my mum's cousin she hasn’t seen in 30 years also came down so that was great,” said the Rayleigh based youngster.

“Playing here and at the Allianz Arena has really been the best experience of my life it was just so gutting we couldn’t get the win.

“We had played so well throughout the whole tournament to get this far and it was really disappointing we couldn’t carry that through to the final.

“It just didn’t really ever come together for us.”

As a result, Seevic were unable to stop Churcher’s College coming out on top at the home of English rugby.

But Hedges heaped praise on his side for even reaching the final.

“We’re a small sixth form college from Thundersley in Essex and we’re playing against full on private schools who are paying for their educations and have played together for a number of years so for us to get even get this far is a huge achievement,” said Hedges.

“At the moment it really hurts that we’ve lost but we should be proud of what we’ve done because it really is a great achievement.”
