SOUTHEND United’s clash at Bury was abandoned after just six minutes this afternoon due to a waterlogged pitch at Gigg Lane.
A heavy down-pour of rain just before kick—off meant the match was forced to be postponed.
And Shrimpers boss Phil Brown fully agreed with the decision made by referee Tony Harrington.
“The weather was monsoon like and the rain is still coming down so it was the right decision,” said Brown.
“The pitch was playable 20 minutes before we started but I’m disappointed for the fans because they spend their lives supporting this football club.
“It’s a long way for them to come and I hope they understand when I say it was a good call for us because we had four players out.
“Myles Weston, Kevan Hurst, Luke Prosser and David Worrall were all unavailable and we could well have them available again when we have to come back."
