SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has refused to comment on speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at Portsmouth.
Rumours have been circulating that Brown is in the running to replace Andy Awford at Fratton Park following his decision to leave the Hampshire club.
But, when contacted by the Echo, Brown was not willing to speak about the speculation and insisted he was fully focusing on the Shrimpers’ clash with Newport County at Roots Hall tonight.
Southend are currently fifth in the League Two table and still pushing for automatic promotion.
However, doubts do remain about Brown’s future at Roots Hall as his contract expires at the end of the season and he has yet to sign a new deal despite the club claiming earlier on in the season that one was close to being agreed.
Shrimpers’ club chiefs also confirmed no approach had been made from Portsmouth to talk to Brown.
