SOUTHEND Rugby Club have recorded a terrific trio of Essex Cup final triumphs.
The under-13 team saw off Upminster 19-0 in their final, the under-14s beat Romford 36-5 and the under-15s triumphed 27-7 against Brentwood in games played at Basildon Rugby Club.
And Southend under-15s coach Kevin Harman labelled it a huge achievement for the club.
“It’s taken a lot of work from a lot of people but it’s brilliant to see,” said Harman.
“The under-15s side were the first team we set up in the mini and youth section here when they were under seven so this success is a huge achievement.
“The teams all work really hard and get excellent coaching too.
“We have former Wales international Paul Turner involved, Mark Williams who is head strength and conditioning coach at Southend United works with the players on that side of things and the first team captain Kris Chesney gets involved too.

“Martin Jones, who is a former head coach at London Welsh, also helps with the coaching and when you have these kinds of people here I don’t think the success comes as a real surprise.
“It was a great day for the club and the future certainly looks bright with so many good young players here.”
