JOSH Batch will be looking to continue his dream start to international ice hockey this weekend.

The 25-year-old, from Wickford, has won all four of his matches for Great Britain so far.

And his father Kevan will be flying out to Holland this weekend hoping to see him keep that run going with two more victories in the World Championships.

“Playing for your country is the pinnacle for any sportsman and Josh is no different,” said Kevan.

“We’ve been in regular contact with him and he’s very proud and humbled to be playing international ice hockey for Great Britain.”

Josh, a former Westcliff High School pupil, enjoyed a debut to remember in a friendly with Poland last week, scoring in a 6-4 win.

He was also voted man of the match in an eye catching display which left his family feeling quite emotional.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t get up to the game but we all watched it together as it was streamed live online and we all had tears in our eyes,” said Kevan.

“It was very emotional and I made sure I was able to buy the jersey Josh wore in that game so we will have it to keep forever.”

Kevan was able to travel to Coventry to watch Josh’s second international, which was also against Poland, and he will be in Eindhoven this weekend.

Great Britain take on the hosts Netherlands tomorrow before they take on Lithuania on Sunday.

They started their World Championships campaign with a 3-2 win against Croatia before they also beat Estonia 2-1 and South Korea 3-2.
