BOWERS & Pitsea took their tally to 92 points with a 3-1 win over London Bari on the final day of the season.

In a remarkable season for Rob Small’s men in which they came to within a whisker of promotion, they end the season in second place, albeit with a goal difference of plus 99.

Bowers opened the scoring through Luka Frankis, after superb interplay between Mike Finneran, formerly of Basildon and Rob Whitnell saw him covert from close range.

But Bari leveled from the penalty spot only for Harley Kee to restore the hosts lead with a prodded effort.

It was fitting that it was Lewis Manor that completed the scoring, with Bowers’ top scorer nodding home a Julian Simon-Parson cross to make it 3-1.

Bowers may yet win promotion dependent on whether other step five league champions are promoted should they have the required ground grading.

Although it is likely step four sides will win reprieves instead of step five sides winning promotion.

Basildon United ended a rotten run of form to secure a win on the final day of the season.

It had been only one win in 13 matches before Bees visited Takeley but two goals at the mid-table side saw them end the campaign in 12th.

Hullbridge Sports ended a record-breaking season with another win to secure a comfortable fourth place.

It is Sports’ highest ever league finish and Greenhouse London were the side beaten this time, with Mark Bliss’ side running out 3-0 winners.

Perry Dunn put the home team ahead on the half-hour mark to give Sports the lead at half-time although they had to wait for the second goal.

Luke Hornsley continued a fine season with another goal after a neat pass from Aaron Hunwicks and with four minutes to go it was three.

Rory Clark scored the goal to compound Greenhouse’s woe.
