Farnborough 0-3 Concord Rangers

From Cherrywood Road

Conference South

CONCORD Rangers ended their season in style with another thumping win over already-relegated Farnborough.

The Beach Boys made it 17 goals against Boro without reply to finish the season in seventh place in only their second season in the Conference South.

A brace from Tony Stokes and a goal from Lewis Taaffe made it a comprehensive victory for Danny Cowley’s men – who finish the season only five points outside the play-offs.

All the goals came in the second-half, as both sides struggled to make a breakthrough in the first 45 minutes.

Ollie Treacher came close for the hosts midway through the first-half, with his effort deflecting off James White and flying over the crossbar.

Next up it was Jamie White who came close, nipping the ball away from Alex Woodyard and bringing the very best out of Josh Vickers – who tipped it wide in what is expected to be his final game for the club.

Concord finished the half well and got their reward three minutes into the second-half.

Taaffe was set up by Woodyard and he struck home.

CJ Fearn headed wide for the hosts in response, with Steve King heading wide at the other end, after a fine ball from Taylor Miles.

But it was a substitute who wrapped up the game, with Stokes coming off the bench to great affect after his goal against Billericay Town in last Monday’s Essex Senior Cup final.

After an effort from Taaffe was blocked, Stokes tapped home to double the lead.

Michael Richens shot over when one-on-one and Stokes made Farnborough pay when he scored again.

After home defender Adam Brice had been sent off, Stokes looped an effort beyond the keeper into the far corner for his 13th goal of the season.
