BARRY Corr is keen to commit his future to Southend United after helping them win promotion from League Two.

Corr topped the Shrimpers scoring charts with 16 goals after a fine second half to the season.

But, after Saturday’s success in the play-off final against Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley, the Irish striker wants to sign another new deal to stay with the club.

“My contract is up at the end of the season and if this is my last game then what a way to sign off, but I hope that isn’t the case,” said Corr.

“I hope we can get something sorted because I’ve been here for five years now and the supporters have been great to me in that time.

“I love Southend and I’m so happy at the moment because this is the best moment I’ve ever had in football.”

Corr saw a first half header ruled out for a foul by Cian Bolger on Nico Yenarris before he also felt he should have been awarded a penalty in the second half when he was pushed in the back by Joe Jacobson.

The full-back’s free-kick then deflected in off the back of Blues’ goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

And Corr was starting to feel it was not Southend’s day.

“I was definitely fearing the worst,” said Corr.

“In the second half of extra-time we didn’t really look like scoring, the ball wasn’t really coming forward to me and we weren’t creating too much.

“But Pigs (Joe Pigott) can score goals out of nothing and I’m delighted for him because he’s done so well for us.

“It doesn’t matter for me that I didn’t score, I contributed to Joe scoring the equaliser and I played my part.

“We certainly left it late but it shows the character in the team and I’m still lost for words about it all.”
