BLUES’ winger Will Atkinson felt his third Wembley appearance was his best yet.

The 26-year-old played twice at the home of English football for Bradford City and won the League Two play-offs with them back in 2013.

But Atkinson insisted neither of them came close to matching the drama of Saturday’s win against Wycombe Wanderers.

“The circumstances of this one were so dramatic and winning this game was just the best feeling I’ve ever had,” said Atkinson.

“Last time I was there with Bradford we were 3-0 up after half-an-hour and it was job done really.

“But this time it was slipping away and a lot of fans had left.

“People were thinking it wasn’t going to be our day so to win it like that and in those circumstances was a dream come true.”

The penalty shoot-out triumph also secured the Shrimpers a place in League One next season.

And Atkinson could not contain his delight.

“It’s massive for me and it’s massive for the club as well, “said the hard-working midfielder.

“To do it with the tight-knit group we have here as well is unbelievable.”
