SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has revealed he remains in transfer talks with Noel Hunt, Joe Pigott and Stephen McLaughlin.

Charlton Athletic striker Pigott and Nottingham Forest winger McLaughlin ended last season on loan with the Shrimpers.

And Brown is still attempting to bring them both while also completing a move for ex-Reading striker Hunt.

“We are still in talks with Noel, Joe and Stephen and I would love to sign all three,” said the Blues boss.

“We’ve tabled a bid for Joe but there’s a still a way to go.

“Hopefully we can complete the deal and I would also like to sign Stephen and Noel who I had a very positive meeting with on Friday.

“It’s a bit tricky at the moment because his agent is in Ireland for a wedding and my chief executive is also away, but hopefully we can get it sorted.”

Echosport also understands Brown is keen to bring in a young defender on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

However, trialist Stephan Zubar will not be offered a deal with the Shrimpers.

The Bournemouth defender featured against both Braintree Town on Friday and West Ham United on Saturday but he will not line up again.

Former Gillingham winger Danny Galbraith also played in both games as a trialist for the Shrimpers and he will remain at the club for the next week.
