FORMER AFC Wimbledon defender Andre Blackman is on trial with Southend United.

The 24-year-old full-back, who also trained with the Shrimpers back in 2010, is keen to secure a contract at Roots Hall.

But Blues boss Phil Brown has yet to see Blackman in action.

“We’ve got Andre Blackman in at the moment who has been here before,” confirmed Brown.

“He’s been a lost soul in the last three or four years but he’s come back to see if he can get his fitness levels up again.

“He wants to try and get himself a contract but there can be no promises where that’s concerned. “

Former Millwall defender Jack Smith, who had also been on trial with the Shrimpers, has now left the club without the offer a contract.

But ex Ipswich Town midfielder Owen Garvan is still training with the League One newcomers.

“Owen has trained with us for a couple of weeks now,” said Brown.

“His fitness levels are getting better but we haven’t made a decision on him yet. “
