IT’S a massive match for us against Yorkshire this afternoon but it’s one I don’t think we’re necessarily under added pressure to win.

It’s true the Royal London One Day Cup is our last chance to win something this season.

But we go into every game wanting to win and we’re hoping that mantra can get us over the line against Yorkshire.

We’re also going into the game full of confidence because we’ve done well in this competition so far this season and we want to continue that good form.

I always enjoy this format of the game and I’ll be looking to carry on from where I left off in the last match we completed in it against Middlesex.

We know it will be a good game too because Yorkshire have a star-studded squad with many England players who have just played a part in winning the Ashes.

Jonny Bairstow, Gary Balance and Adam Lyth will all be playing along with former England bowler Tim Bresnan.

But I’m sure they won’t be looking forward to coming to Chelmsford to play us.

We enjoy playing at home, it’s been good to us there and we’ve also had some success against Yorkshire in recent seasons so hopefully we can enjoy a bit more this afternoon.

WE HAVE HAD TIME TO PREPARE

GOING into the Yorkshire game it’s been nice to have a few days to be able to prepare properly.

During the course of the season there is very little time to practise and that’s the disadvantage to having to balance three different competitions at the same time.

To be able to deal with that, the day before a match is very important.

You need to be able to get in the right mindset and, if possible, it’s great to also go through the skill-set you need in that format of the game.

But, ahead of the Yorkshire game, we’ve had time to rest up and also have some very good training sessions.

The weather hasn’t always helped with that and we’ve had to do some indoor sessions but we’re in good shape heading into this game.

REECE IS A TOP TALENT REECE

Topley has been in fantastic form in the one-day competition for us this year and it’s great to see that recognised with an England call up.

He’s been fantastic with the new ball and he deserves to have been selected in the squad for the one-day series with Australia.

I’m sure he will do will if he’s given the chance as he’s an extremely competitive character which I recently found out to my cost during a rather epic game of table tennis!
