BASILDON based gymnast Max Whitlock was back to his best at the London Open on Saturday.
The multi medal winning 22-year-old was hit by low grade glandular-fever earlier on in the season.
But he suffered no problems at the weekend, scoring an incredible 91.600 to win the all-around final.
His South Essex Gymnastics Club team-mate Brinn Bevan took third with 87.750 while Reiss Beckford was sixth with 84.600.
Whitlock also finished first on the pommel horse and on floor while he took joint second on the high bar, second on the rings and third on the vault.
Bevan, who is in his first year as a senior, also came joint second on the high bar.
The event was the first qualifier open to all gymnasts for next month’s World Championships in Glasgow. Full report and reaction in Echosport later this week
