MICHAEL Timlin and Luke Prosser are both injury doubts for Southend United’s clash at Crewe Alexandra this evening.

The duo picked up thigh problems during Saturday’s 2-1 win against Scunthorpe United at Roots Hall.

And Shrimpers boss Phil Brown believes it is unlikely he will be able to select an unchanged starting line-up at Gresty Road.

“We have a few niggles and doubts and I don’t think we’re going to be able to keep the same team if I’m honest,” said Brown.

“There’s still a little bit of time to take a look at things but Michael Timlin took a kick on his thigh at the weekend so he’s a doubt and Luke Prosser has a little bit of a thigh niggle as well.

“We will be keeping an eye on them both before deciding whether or not they will be fit enough to play.”

Timlin has captained the Shrimpers for the last two matches in the absence of John White had also been sidelined by a thigh problem.

But White trained yesterday and the right-back could now be back in contention for this evening’s clash.

Adam Barrett (hamstring), Kevan Hurst (knee) and Stephen McLaughlin (illness) have all been ruled out.

And striker Noel Hunt is not yet ready to start as he continues to work his way back to full fitness from a thigh problem.

“Noel is doubtful to start and he played longer than we originally expected against Scunthorpe,” said Brown.

“But, despite the injury problems, the players are on a real high after back to back wins and I think they’re starting to believe in themselves at this level now which is key.”

Blues, who sit 13th in the table, will be looking to make it three wins in a row by securing victory at Crewe.

And Brown insists he will be approaching the game on the front foot.

“We’ll be going there with a positive game plan,” said the Blues boss.

“It will be similar to how we approached the Millwall match and hopefully it can lead to a similar result as well.”
