SOUTHEND United striker Joe Pigott is gunning for revenge at Burton Albion tomorrow.

The Shrimpers suffered a painful 2-1 defeat against the 10 men Brewers at the Pirelli Stadium last season.

And Pigott, who scored twice in the 2-1 win at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night, is now keen to get his own back.

“Losing there last season was a bitter pill to swallow,” said Pigott, 21.

“It was a topsy turvy game but we were 1-0 up at half-time and they were down to 10 men.

“They came back to win it which really hurt but hopefully we’ll get some revenge on Saturday.”

Burton, who were promoted alongside Southend from League Two last season, have started the new campaign in stunning form and currently top the League One table.

But Pigott cannot wait to take them on.

“We think we can win any game at the moment,” said the on loan Charlton Athletic.”

“I saw a stat the other day that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has more points over the last year or so than any other manager in the country.

“It’s an amazing stat but we’re just looking forward to the battle, especially as we haven’t lost away from home this season.”

Blues should have right-back John White and left-winger Stephen McLaughlin available again this weekend.

But striker Noel Hunt is rated 50/50 with a thigh problem while Adam Barrett (hamstring) and Kevan Hurst (knee) will both miss out.
