FORMER Southend star Mike Stanley has labelled his World Cup campaign with Samoa as a “roller-coaster ride” of emotions.
Stanley appeared twice for Samoa during the competition, scoring a total of nine points.
And the 25-year-old admitted it was an experience he would never forget.
“I’ll always be so proud to represent Samoa and I’ve loved the past three months with the Usos,” said Stanley.
“Playing with some legends of Samoan and world rugby has truly been an honour and I’ve learnt so much along the way about our culture.
“Personally it’s been a roller coaster of a ride with some highs and definite lows but it’s all been character building.
“It’s going be tough to say goodbye so I just want to say a massive thank you to all of the brothers for sticking together through some very tough times.”
Stanley did not feature in Samoa’s final game of the competition, a 36-33 defeat against Scotland on Saturday which saw them finish fourth in the five team pool.
