SOUTHEND United midfielder Ryan Leonard has rediscovered his scoring touch, thanks to pop star Justin Bieber!

Leonard has scored three goals in four games since the Shrimpers starting listening to Bieber’s music in the dressing room before kick-off.

And the 23-year-old even celebrated his goal at Sheffield United on Saturday by replicating dance moves from Bieber’s latest music video.

“Myself, Cokes (Ben Coker), Will (Atkinson), Wozza (David Worrall) and Hursty (Kevan Hurst) pretty much live together and we’re addicted to Justin Bieber’s new song,” said Leonard.

“We all said that when one of us scored we would all do that celebration but it didn’t look quite as good on the television as I had imagined!

“It’s all a good laugh though and since we started playing Justin Bieber I’ve starting scoring again.

“I’m not sure it’s everyone’s cup of tea, especially Adam Barrett.”

However, the experienced Shrimpers centre-back appeared to get his own back by clattering into Leonard’s shin during Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane.

But, despite having to have treatment on the injury, Leonard is certain he will be fit to face Blackpool at Roots Hall this weekend.

“It’s been a bit sore but I’ll definitely be OK for Saturday,” said Leonard.

“The injury actually came from Adam Barrett. He must have been getting revenge for the music or all the stick I’ve been giving him lately.

“But it’s nothing too serious and I’m sure I won’t miss this game this weekend.”

Leonard will be looking to continue his scoring streak against the struggling Seasiders.

And he is desperate to fire the Shrimpers back to winning ways after four league games without a victory.

“We’ve been playing well for sections of matches but we need to start doing it for the whole 90 minutes,” said Leonard.

“We want that to happen on Saturday because we need the three points.”
