SOUTHEND United head back to Boundary Park tonight for the first time since an infamous FA Cup tie in December 2011 when a first half red card from Bilel Mohsni sparked a dressing room bust up.

Blues lost 1-0 and Mohsni refused to travel back home on the team coach in a night the Shrimpers manager that night, Paul Sturrock, told Echosport he can still vividly remember.

“It was a big game because whoever won it got to go to Liverpool in the next round. We started the game well and it was looking good until Bilel got sent off before half-time. We still had chances when we were down to 10 men but eventually lost the game 1-0.

“The players were really upset with Bilel and all hell broke loose in the dressing room after the game.

“There were a few bust ups that season, one after a League Cup game with Leyton Orient and another at Morecambe.

“But, after the Oldham one, Bilel refused to get on the team coach with the rest of the players.

“At the time there were reports that he was outside the ground asking for directions to the train station but it never came to that because I got him a lift home with one of the directors.

“Bilel really is the nicest person you could wish to meet until he puts on a football kit.

“He has problems with anger management and takes everything personally.

“But he’s a very talented footballer and now plays in the top league in France.

“He’s with a club called Angers and that is quite ironic really!”
