SOUTHEND United winger David Worrall hopes last night’s 5-2 win at Oldham Athletic gave the Shrimpers’ supporters value for money.

The Latics’ controversial ticket strategy saw the visiting supporters charged more than three times what the home fans had to pay to watch the game.

And Worrall insisted that had fired Blues up before the game.

“We were well aware of the ticket prices before the match and hopefully we gave our supporters £22 worth of entertainment,” said the winger.

“I would imagine the home fans would be asking for their fivers back but it’s a great win for us coming here and we’re all really pleased.”

Jack Payne, David Mooney, Will Atkinson and Luke Prosser were also on target for Blues as they moved up to eighth in the table.

And Worrall insisted he was pain free despite being knocked out when scoring the Shrimpers’ third goal of the night.

“I knew I was going to get whacked by their defender when I scored but it was worth it,” said the winger.

“My face slammed down and all I remember is suddenly being freezing on the floor.

“But getting the goal made it worthwhile because I really needed one.

“I’ve found a bit of form now but I need to keep it going. "

Worrall’s goal came against one his former clubs and was particularly pleasing as he had a number of friends and family watching him from the stands.

“I had about 16 of my friends and family here watching which was great because it’s obviously hard for them to get down to Essex to watch me,” said Worrall, who hails from Manchester.

“But I doubt they were worried when I got injured as they know how soft I am!”

Worrall insisted he was fit enough to face Wigan Athletic at Roots Hall this weekend.

And the 25-year-old is keen for the Shrimpers to keep on causing opposing defences problems.

“I think having two wingers is helping us at the moment,” said Worrall.

“Jack Payne is causing havoc with David Mooney and we can cause any teams problems now so we're looking forward to Saturday.

"I've been checked over bythe Oldham doctor and I'll be fine to play too."
